The Chokehold Sushi has on me

Hello!

The first time I tried sushi, it was a Philadelphia roll and I fell in love immediately. That was more than a decade ago, but my love remains strong.

As I continue to try new rolls at different locations, my taste develops and while I am not an expert, but I am an amateur connoisseur. Excuse the oxymoron.

If you are from the Lehigh Valley and love sushi, then you need to read this!

When I was first introduced to Lily’s Sushi, I was in high school. This was 8 years ago! If you’re not a local, let me explain why Lily’s Sushi was the spot to go as a sushi lover. Lily’s Sushi is an all you can eat sushi spot. The appetizers were truly unmatched and the sushi quality was untouched. Dinner was $20, weekday lunch was $11 and weekend brunch was $15. The menus were all different, but excellent.

Over the years, the quality changed. In my eyes, it went from this is the “go to spot” to it’s good for what it is… all you can eat sushi is good for $20, but I don’t love it as much anymore. I went the other day by myself to make sure I was accurate in this post. Well, the price is now $24, which normally would make sense, price increases are normal, but this felt unwarranted. Well, sadly I cannot say I would go there for the rolls, but the appetizers are top tier. Sadly, they keep removing options from their menu as time goes on. The sashimi is an extra $9. This is a lot higher than it used to be.

There are tons of other good spots in the Lehigh Valley that aren’t all you can eat, but the quality is amazing.

If you’re close to the west end of Allentown and want some sushi, head over to to Sumo Sushi and Japanese Fusion. Sumo's lunch deal is unbeatable. You can get 2 rolls for $11 or 3 rolls for $14. The deal comes with miso soup and a ginger salad. It's my favorite meal if I am close to Dorney Park.

If you‘re close to the Southside of Allentown and are craving sushi, you need to try Rice Family. It is a great spot! Rice family also has a deal for lunch rolls, but the options are limited. I will go here for dinner because it is worth every cent. If you love hibachi rice, their fried rice will more than fulfill the craving. This spot is truly my favorite.

If you’re looking for all you can eat sushi and Lily’s Sushi isn’t cutting it for you anymore and you’re willing to drive, you need to check out Oki Sushi. The all you can eat is $30. The sushi and sashimi is included in the price, Lily’s Sushi charges extra for both. The sushi is fresh and the roll is not overwhelmed by the amount of rice. Oki Sushi also has interesting unique rolls. I love going here for all you can eat. To me, it is worth the drive and price.

If you need to replace your go to sushi spot, Oki Sushi may be the place for you! If you do check it out, let me know!

Thanks,

Kelly
